Kooky and cool: jewels for original thinkers

Tapping into a stranger world here are my favourite jewels with a quirky streak that dare to be so very different.

  • Gothic glamour meets gold in Gucci's new Le Marché des Merveilles jewels that include this intriguing gem-set hand jewel.
  • Each of the three versions of Dior's Tête de Mort two rings is slightly different and feature details that relate to Christian Dior's life and loves. Price £7650 and £7150
  • Deceptively playful, the Green and Purple ring has a 3.36-carat emerald at its heart surrounded by 18 carat yellow gold covered in lacquer and set with purple diamonds.
  • Paula Crevoshay's writhing brooch features the Eye of Ra - a symbol used to represent the ancient Egyptian goddess Ra - depicted in sapphires, apatites and fire opals.
  • The ornate fans and head combs of the Spanish señoritas is evoked in Lydia Courteille Rosa del Inca double finger using soft pink rhodochrosite alongside pink and orange sapphires, rubies and black diamonds for the rose.
  • Chaumet African ant earrings Evans Mbugua

  • Olivia Colman Academy Awards 2019 Chopard
