Add a colourful twist to your timekeeping with these summer ready watches

Traditionally the season to experiment with bright shades, these summer watches will add a pop of colour to your wrist.

Summer is traditionally the time to experiment with the kind of bright shades that wouldn't get a look-in in the winter months. You may not feel comfortable dressing in neon pink or canary yellow - two of the hottest shades this season - but wearing them on your wrist is another matter.

Jean Richard has launched five colourful rubber straps this summer that will brighten up your Terrascope, Aquascope or Aeroscope watch no end. Available in green, purple, yellow, red and aubergine, they are decorated with a delicate striped relief and stamped with the JR signature.

The La Mini D de Dior watch is always on trend, and this season it is available with a neon patent strap - a pretty pop of pink for the wrist. Or design a bespoke watch to your own colourful specifications. To commemorate 20 years of the Happy Sport, Chopard has launched the My Happy Bespoke Passion. Customise your watch with blue or pink sapphires, pick a bright rubber strap and you have a one-of-a-kind Chopard timepiece that you can admire for many summers to come.

Look beyond black for your sports watch and you'll stand out rather than blend in. Harry Winston has introduced its first colourful complication into the monochrome Ocean Sport collection. The Ocean Sport Chronograph Blue Dial has a deep blue smoked sapphire dial that reveals a sophisticated skeletonized chronograph module and a robust blue rubber strap. Linde Werdelin recently unveiled the latest model in its Oktopus II Double Date range of luxury sports watches - also available in blue and yellow - with red accents on the dial and a pillarbox red rubber strap. And Blancpain has gone all-out white with its Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe dive watch, which looks a little bit vintage and very, very stylish.

De GRISOGONO always delivers on colour, and its new bejewelled Tino timepiece for ladies - a new model in the classic Instrumentino range - is set with hundreds of amethysts with a matching galuchet strap. Reflecting its London provenance, Backes & Strauss has launched the Victoria Collection, a quartet of dainty dress watches featuring an interlocking heart design, inspired by the Victorian era. Alongside the more traditional white diamond model are three extremely beautiful alternatives, set with intense pink, fancy canary yellow and champagne diamonds.

The hand-painted dial on DeLaneau's Atame Flower Field watch is a melee of warm colours, presented in the style of an Impressionist painting. But for summer in a nutshell, there is Bulgari's Il Giardino Tropicale Tourbillon. The watch depicts such a cheerful jungle scene on its hand-enamelled dial that you can quite forget it represents a significant milestone for the Italian jeweller as its first grand complication for women.
