Merge a Swiss-made manual-winding movement with its watchcase and the result is the world's thinnest hand-wound timepiece. Since the launch of its first ultra-thin movement in 1957, Piaget has been a pioneer in the world of slim mechanisms and watches. To celebrate its 140th anniversary, the brand has launched the Altiplano 38mm 900P watch. Three years in development, this record-breaking timepiece combines Piaget's classic Calibre 9P hand-wound movement - the very first ultra thin-movement launched by Piaget in 1957 - with a beautifully crafted and polished white gold case. At only 3.65mm, the slim profile of the Piaget Altiplano 38mm 900P watch was achieved through a complex architecture that allows much of the movement to be visible on the dial. The exquisite movement, with its 20 jewels and alternate sunburst and circular satin-brushed white gold wheels, is contrasted with black-coated bevelled bridges. The unmistakable Altiplano watch aesthetic of the satin-brushed white gold hours and minute sub-dial is offset at 10 o'clock to allow the mechanism and hand-fitted system to be housed within the thickness of the balance wheel. With all this groundbreaking development in ultra-thin movements, Piaget has not compromised on accuracy and reliability, with a power reserve of 48 hours and a frequency of 21,600vph.
