The Cartier Santos watch is a horological star in its own right and generally considered to be one of the first men’s wristwatches on the market. Originally designed by Louis Cartier for his friend, the pioneering Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont, in 1904, the watch came with a strap allowing the pilot to consult the time on his wrist instead of having to extract a watch from his pocket. The Santos is an iconic Cartier watch that has flown down through the ages with its original design attributes intact.
