Renowned for her effortlessly chic style, Cate Blanchett graced the screening of The Apprentice with a one-of-a-kind Louis Vuitton custom high jewellery pearl shoulder necklace. This unique piece, composed entirely from repurposed precious metal, pearls, and diamonds, not only accentuated her elegance but also underscored her and the Maison’s commitment to circular creativity.

Following her appearance at the BAFTA ceremony in London, the Australian actress embarked on a creative mission with Francesca Amfitheatrof, Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director of Watches and Jewellery. "This is our third collaboration with Cate, repurposing materials and pieces from existing collections to create a simple elegant line of diamonds and pearls," says Ms. Amfitheatrof. "We aim to surprise and create conversations around imaginative ways to repurpose and reuse materials. New ideas and designs can often appear from what we already have around us; it is all about how you look at the world.”

Their shared vision of sustainability led to the creation of a unique design for the Cannes Film Festival. This minimalist statement necklace drapes white Ayoka and metallic grey Tahitian pearls around the shoulders along with 633 diamonds, all sourced from past Louis Vuitton high jewels. This bespoke jewel was meticulously hand-threaded to perfectly hug the actress’s shoulders yet move with the body.  The necklace, a testament to their collaborative effort, was showcased against the actress’ bare skin, complementing her simple strapless gown and small diamond hoop earrings.

Cate Blanchett is known for making both style and ethical statements with her choice of red carpet looks, and the Cannes Film Festival is the most essential high jewellery event of the year when the eyes of the world are on this famous city on the Côte d’Azur.

Unlike other one-night celebrity events and awards, the French film extravaganza lasts two weeks and attracts the most significant number of A-listers and, in their wake, couturiers and jewellers to provide their red-carpet looks. For this stellar fortnight, the greatest concentration of jewellery is transported to the French Riviera and stowed in safes, ready to shine for the world’s paparazzi that line La Croisette each night.

In this magical setting, in the soft evening light, Cate Blanchett stepped out of her limousine and onto the red carpet of the Palais de Festival to face the banks of photographers.  In her off-the-shoulder dress and the spectacular simplicity of this necklace,Cate Blanchett reminded the world of the importance of keeping sustainability in the headlines.
