One of the largest yellow diamonds of our times weighing in at 110,03 carats sold at low end of the estimate (10,200,000-14,000,000 CHF) at a hammer price of 10,000,000 CHF. Bidding was swift for the final lot at Sotheby's Sale of Magnificent Jewels on 15 November in Geneva. In just a few minutes what was billed as 'the largest known Fancy Vivid yellow pear shaped diamond' achieved a hammer price at the lower end of the price spectrum with less bidding than was seen for the previous lot which was the Cartier natural pearl necklace that went for a staggering 2,650,000 CHF (hammer price) after heated bidding.
