SIHH 2012 Editor's pick of womens watches

Editor's top picks of women's watches from SIHH 2012.

SIHH 2012 Vacheron Constantin

After seeing hundreds of watches at the Salon Internationale de Haute Horlogerie, here is my pick of the most beautiful women's watches that caught my eye. Some are very much jewellery watches with diamonds galore while others are pleasing to the eye because of their sinuous forms.

Cartier as always play the panther to perfection and in this case the diamond feline whirls around the dial and his sparkling rotations serve not just to throw shards of light into the atmosphere, he is also diligently winding the automatic movement. Piaget conceal a dial behind a pretty gold and diamond set disc as part of the houses's Limelight collection. Vacheron Constantin excel with their dedication to the finest and most rare crafts. The Metiers d'Arts series for this year focusses on tesselations and the work of Escher, the Dutch artist. Arguably both for men or women these were some of the most exciting watches I saw at the Fair. I even had a go at filling in one of the miniscule chambers that make up the body of a fish with enamel paste, through a pair of microscope binoculars - I am sure that dial will go to the scrap heap.
