It was designing a cuff for himself that inspired Los Angeles-based jdesigner Victor Velyan to launch his eponymous jewellery line. Since then Velyan has been designing singular, bold creations for women who like to express themselves through the jewellery they wear. This bracelet, crafted from yellow gold and silver, features a cracked white patina, created by painting the precious metals with his proprietary blend of acid and metals including copper, iron and zinc, which lends it an antique feel. The cuff is set with vivid black opals and embellished by diamonds. Velyan loves to work with unusual methods and materials and favours 24-carat gold, not for its practicality but for the purity and colour that it possesses.
