Jaeger-LeCoultre watches pays tribute to its famous ancestor with the Geophysic 1958 in limited editions and noble metals such as this 38.5mm platinum model. Readopting the aesthetic codes of the historic model, this platinum watch has just two numerals on the dial and replicates the elongated hour and minute markers for precision readings. Presented on an alligator strap with a platinum pin buckle, this watch bears the retro imprint of 1958 but is equipped with a sophisticated in-house JLC automatic movement housed in a soft-iron case to enhance its anti-magnetic properties, and is water-resistant to 100 metres. In 1958 Jaeger-LeCoultre took part in the International Geophysic Year by creating a watch to accompany scientists on their most intrepid adventures. At its time it was one of the most sophisticated scientific instruments on the market, capable of withstanding magnetism, shocks and immersions in freezing Arctic water.
