Omega launches Ladymatic

Nicole Kidman wearing Omega Ladymatic

Omega's  Ladymatic is a whole new range of watches just for women launched in November in Beijing. All the watches have mechanical movements and are full of design details like the textured  mother of pearl dials, different diamond settings and ceramic inserts on the side of the case to match the colour of the dial. It sits on a glamourous thick link bracelet that is soft to the touch and the sprinkling of diamonds is enough to add a little sparkle without looking like you just won the lottery. Available in red and yellow gold as well as steel, these watches all have automatic movements. This  means that they don't have a battery;  instead power is gathered by the natural movement of the wrist. As befits the more complex movements that have more components than a quartz equivalent, the beating heart of the watch is visible through the glass case-back. And don't think I am a geek, but the constantly whirring and ticking movement is pretty in its own right. And bear with me for just one more point: the movement has a co-axial escapement which means that it keeps very good time. Nicole Kidman is the woman chosen to show us this new model. Have a look at the 'behind the scenes' video of how the campaign was shot. How annoying that she should still look so lovely - but I am sure I saw her in a pair of white towelling hotel slippers at one moment during the shoot. Looking at her taut arms means back to the gym for me and maybe then my husband will buy me a gold Ladymatic.
