Bulgari's new Serpenti watch is a fusion between the traditional snake bracelet and the 1950's 'Tubogas" bracelet, a Bulgari icon named for the mundane gas-pipe that inspired the design. Snake jewels have been slithering up arms since Roman times and later interpretations include models such as this beautifully elaborate 1965 version (above) with enamel scales and a miniature dial in its mouth. Taking the stark functionality of the 1950's Tubogas (above) with the classical motif of the snake, the new Serpenti bracelet watches are classic yet coolly contemporary. For all their exterior serenity and simplicity, the coil bracelet with no fastenings is a feat of micro-engineering that slips onto the wrist with reptilian ease. Available in single coil or double coil versions for those wanting a double dose of slinkiness.
