As the nights draw in and the leaves start to shift from green to yellow and orange, celebrate the start of a new season with our gorgeous selection of autumnal fine jewellery.

While some may mourn the end of summer, I always look forward to the arrival of autumn and all that it brings, from cosy log fires to mugs of steaming hot chocolate, and crisp, sunny mornings. Jewellery designers have translated those happy autumn vibes into fine jewellery collections glowing with a rich, burnished colour palette, bursting with seasonal motifs such as leaves and acorns.

The acorn, in particular, has emerged as a favourite design, bolstered no doubt by the fact that Kate Middleton has been spotted on several occasions wearing an Asprey necklace with an acorn charm from the Woodland collection designed by Shaun Leane. Inspired by English woodland fauna, the Asprey jewellery collection features whimsical charms in the form of mushrooms, acorns, oak leaves, pine cones and blackberries, which can be attached to Asprey bracelets, earrings and pendants.

Acorns also abound in fine jewellery collections from the likes of Carrera y Carrera, Cathy WatermanK. Brunini and Ole Lynggaard, who have all embraced the autumnal motif in various guises, from the diamond-encrusted acorn on the Cathy Waterman pendant necklace, to the more rustic version punctuating the ends of a bangle in K. Brunini's Twig collection.

The breathtaking beauty of a fairytale woodland landscape is replicated in the Asprey Oak Leaf ring, set with a central peridot surrounded by pavé tsavorites, while autumn showers are captured in the flurry of rose gold rain drops that cascade downwards in a pretty pair of earrings from the new Carla Amorim jewellery collection, entitled Romance.

Finally, autumn’s explosive colour palette is brought to magnificent life in a pair of chandelier earrings from British jeweller Hirsh, in which yellow and orange diamonds resemble falling leaves - a reminder of the visual spectacle we have to look forward to in the coming weeks as the new season gets underway.
