Italian designers Roberto Faraone Mennella and Amedeo Scognamiglio have been utilising a rich history of craftsmanship and artistry to bring their own particular brand of thinking to Faraone Mennella, designing pieces from their New York base that still reap Mediterranean inspiration; and their signature collection certainly encapsulates this.
Their necklaces are deceptively simple yet boldly realised, the Stellina 18inch 18ct yellow gold and tiger eye necklace, the Athena necklace with it's bold black ceramic ringlets contrasting with 18ct yellow gold, and similarly the complementing earrings, these pieces in particular richly illustrate where Italy comes through. When you look at the bracelets though, you see how Faraone Mennella have taken these signature forms and hewn them into more modern and more complex shapes; just take a look at the 18ct rose and yellow gold Nodi bracelet with brown, champagne and white diamonds, and the closely-knit Onde bracelet with it's unmistakable twist and hidden clasp.
Again though, we see the Mediterranean seep through into rings that are large, curvaceous and begging for attention, the 18ct yellow gold Cage ring with its diamonds seemingly woven up and over lengths of gold, or the animal ferocity of the Gattopardo gold ring. You could say Faraone Mennella are making a mission statement by calling this their Signature Collection- with jewellery design this confident, it's better to say why wouldn't they?
