de Grisogono confirms theft of 2 million euro necklace after 20th anniversary party at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc during Cannes Film Festival.

Genevan jewellery house de GRISOGONO confirmed the robbery of a €2 million necklace in Cannes after its 20th anniversary party held at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d'Antibes on Tuesday evening. Guests included Sharon Stone, Paris Hilton, Harvey Weinstein and other celebrities, many of them wearing high-value de GRISOGONO jewels.  Read more about the party here

This follows on from the theft of Chopard jewels last week. According to Fawaz Gruosi, Founder and Creative Director of de GRISGONO: "These incidents are rare; it is actually the first time it has happened in our 20-year history. However, when they occur one must be proactive and collaborate with the authorities."

The press release from de GRISOGONO states: "Regrettably, after the night's festivities ended, de GRISOGONO staff members discovered that a high jewellery necklace, part of the launched collection, was stolen despite the large security measures set in place: over 80 security guards plus the police. A police report has been filed and further investigation is under way by local law enforcement."

Help us make the future bright

Since founding The Jewellery Editor in 2010, we have grown our digital magazine to be the number one global source of information and inspiration for fine jewellery and luxury watches.

3,500 articles, 150 videos with over 5 million views and a reach of over 2 million per month on social media later, we have offered unparalleled and highly respected coverage of our sector. However, despite our editorial success, we are financially struggling as an independent publisher.

Entirely funded, owned and run by Christine and Maria in London, we are now looking to sell The Jewellery Editor so that it can continue to grow. As e-commerce becomes a priority in our industry, we believe there is huge potential for engaging editorial content and are seeking a buyer who shares our values and passion so that under their guidance we can give a bright future to the platform and help us grow our business to the next stage.
