The historic Taj Mahal diamond, dating from 1627-1628, was once owned by Mumtaz-I-Mahal, in whose memory Emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal. Richard Burton gave the legendary heart-shaped diamond to Liz Taylor on her 40th birthday, which she wore on a Cartier-designed gold and ruby chain.
