Celebrating 20 years of making some of the most seductive jewels known to womankind, de GRISOGONO has a special shimmering stash of jewels brimming with colour to surprise and delight us.

This year, as always, there is never a dull moment at de GRISOGONO. In fact, one of my favourite moments of Baselworld was entering the de GRISOGONO 'mansion', a palace to pleasure with a décor that melded Renaissance splendour with a St Tropez vibe - believe me, it worked.

Low-volume nightclub music buzzed in the background as clients sat on deep, dark velvet sofas. The air was scented with the heady aroma of dozens of outsized Bois Florentine candles flickering beneath lavish flower arrangements of all-white blooms. Business was done over black, gothic-style tables onto which tray after tray of intoxicating, eye-popping bright and exquisitely valuable jewels were presented.

One of the main characteristics of all of de GRISOGONO's jewels has always been colour, so it makes sense that for the house's two-decade anniversary the brightest and most glorious precious stones are at the centre of the new collections.

'Sparkling Symphony' recalls iconic designs from the past 20 years, freshly set with some stunning stones that founder Fawaz Gruosi describes as 'the tears of happiness'. Amethysts, yellow and orange sapphires and tsavorites dance amongst diamonds and gold, creating vivid colour combinations.

'Melody of Colours' again looks to the rainbow and the riches of the earth to bring us an explosion of colour. "In order to capture the light of each gemstone, you have to know its pulse," says Mr Gruosi. "Each has its own, which does not follow the general laws of physics but aesthetic codes that dictate very precisely the harmony of colours, the angles of the reflections and the exact shapes." One pair of earrings alone is an alluring cocktail of two cabochon-cut amethysts, 423 amethysts, 12 white diamonds, 50 emeralds, 86 peridots, 102 rubies and 116 pink sapphires.

Here is my selection of some of the most memorable pieces from this year's collections. As with all de GRISOGONO's creations - tactile, glossy and bursting with life - these jewels are made for flaunting. Perfect for the dance floor, most tremble, sway and swing with your every move. It was, after all, de GRISOGONO who dared to make jewellery so outrageously sexy.
