New video: Thierry and Sandrine Stern of Patek Philippe talk new watches at Baselworld

At Baselworld, Maria Doulton speaks with Thierry and Sandrine Stern of Patek Philippe about the new men's Nautilus and women's Officer-style Moon phase watches.

While I was at Baselworld I had the rare chance to interview not just Thierry Stern, the President of Patek Philippe, but also his wife, Sandrine Stern, who is in charge of design. So with both Sandrine and Thierry Stern around the table, I had the opportunity to hear about the new Nautilus Ref 5990/1 for men and the new 'Officer' style Ref 7121/1 Moon phase watch for women.

?Thierry Stern speaks to us about revisiting the classic Nautilus and adding the function of a second time zone without losing the characteristic and much-loved lines of this classic from Patek Philippe, which first appeared in 1976.

Thierry Stern reveals that this was his first Patek Philippe watch, given to him at the age of 18, which is why it has a special place in his heart. Despite the new movement and functions, it retains its immediately recognisable profile and it is Thierry Stern's favourite travel watch.

Sandrine Stern talks us through the Officer-style Moon phase watch on a gold bracelet and how her approach to designing women's watches is not about making diamond-set, smaller versions of men's watches but special designs just for women.
