Gift ideas for women: Christmas video of the best watches for her under £5000

Our top five watches for women under £5,000 will make stylishly reliable companions for years to come.

The Jewellery Editor team has compiled its top five Christmas watches for women, including this Ralph Lauren Petite Stirrup Link watch, all priced under £5,000.

It's almost Christmas and you may still pondering your list of Christmas gift ideas for women in your attempt to find a present that will really impress her. Well The Jewellery Editor team is here to help and we've put together a selection of our favourite watches for her, all priced under £5,000, that all have something very special going for them.

America's king of casual elegance, Ralph Lauren, started making watches a couple of years ago and the results are fantastic. Faithful to the refined world of polo, the Stirrup watch has been resized in a Petite model for women (£4,250). The gorgeous chain link bracelet and snow-set diamond bezel give the watch a strong jewellery appeal, very in keeping with the timeless sophistication of Ralph Lauren's universe.

The Liens watch by Chaumet, the French jeweller's latest watch for women, is the epitome of Parisian chic. Confident and stylish, the round case is embraced by an elliptical exterior frame creating a singular architectural feel. The stainless steel case is enhanced with 56 brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel, and the white dial, like a beautifully starched white shirt, features vertical pleats in the centre (£4,650).

Dior's La Mini D de Dior watch is a tempting candidate for Christmas gift ideas for women (£2,900). The inky black mother-of-pearl dial on this ultra-petite jewellery watch is set alight with diamonds on thue bezel and crown, and the fun fluoro pink strap adds a very contemporary touch.

A classic design is the Hermès Cape Cod watch in stainless steel, with a barrel-shaped case. Hermès fans will recognise how the lugs are inspired by the characteristic Chaîne d'Ancre - anchor chain - bracelet and the vintage feel that the curved numerals add to the watch. The interchangeable double strap comes in a vibrant variety of colours, although we are particularly fond of this classic Hermès orange strap, which wraps twice around the wrist (£1,800).

For sportier types, we love the nautical spirit of the Louis Vuitton Tambour Lovely Cup Chronograph watch (£2,880). The pushers on the side of the case activate the chronograph functions measuring elapsed time in minutes, seconds and 1/10th of a second. Other sporty features include water resistance to 100 metres, luminescent hands and indices and the nautical insignia on the dial. But it is unquestionably a ladies' watch with its lovely mother-of-pearl dial and the hallmark Louis Vuitton monogram pattern on the white rubber strap.

Help us make the future bright

Since founding The Jewellery Editor in 2010, we have grown our digital magazine to be the number one global source of information and inspiration for fine jewellery and luxury watches.

3,500 articles, 150 videos and a reach of over 2 million per month on social media later, we have offered unparalleled and highly respected coverage of our sector. However, despite our editorial success, we are financially struggling as an independent publisher.

Entirely funded, owned and run by Christine and Maria in London, we are now looking to sell The Jewellery Editor so that it can continue to grow in the hands of a different owner. As e-commerce becomes a priority in our industry, we believe there is huge potential for engaging editorial content and are seeking a buyer who shares our values and passion so that under their guidance we can give a bright future to the platform.

We can’t commit to financing the website for much longer so if we don’t manage to initiate any meaningful conversations in the next few weeks, the website will be frozen on 1st April 2018. If and when we find a suitable partner we will revive it and take it to the next stage.

Alternatively, if you are willing to help, you can donate so that in the meantime, we can continue to publish more interesting content.
