In the run up to BaselWorld and the Cannes Film Festival in 2013 - two of the most important events of the year for Chopard - the luxury Swiss jeweller still found time to celebrate another milestone: the 20th anniversary of the Happy Sport. When this iconic timepiece was first introduced, it changed people's perceptions of women's watches. For the first time ever, Chopard combined its watchmaking know-how with steel and diamonds, two materials that had, until then, never featured in the world of ladies' horlogerie.

With co-president Ms. Scheufele at the helm, the Happy Sport was infused with a playful sense of craft and design, and a jeweller's passion for the very best stones. "Diamonds are happiest when they are free," declared her mother Karin Scheufele in the 1970s, the era in which the Happy Diamonds line was launched, and Caroline shared similar sentiments. The Happy Sport watches were an opportunity for her imagination to run free, resulting in a wide variety of styles combining Chopard's traditional craftsmanship with both strength and delicacy.

To mark two decades of the Happy Sport, Chopard now offers the My Happy Bespoke Passion watch - a unique way to personalise your Chopard timepiece. Through Chopard's network of boutiques you can specify exactly how you want your Happy Sport to look. Choose between blue or pink sapphires or tsavorites swirling around the dial, a variety of delightful moving charms, classic steel bracelets or a rainbow of colourful leather straps. Once you have finalised your design from an almost infinite number of Happy Sport permutations, your one-of-a-kind watch will be handcrafted in the Manufacture Chopard in Geneva.

Help us make the future bright

Since founding The Jewellery Editor in 2010, we have grown our digital magazine to be the number one global source of information and inspiration for fine jewellery and luxury watches.

3,500 articles, 150 videos and a reach of over 2 million per month on social media later, we have offered unparalleled and highly respected coverage of our sector. However, despite our editorial success, we are financially struggling as an independent publisher.

Entirely funded, owned and run by Christine and Maria in London, we are now looking to sell The Jewellery Editor so that it can continue to grow in the hands of a different owner. As e-commerce becomes a priority in our industry, we believe there is huge potential for engaging editorial content and are seeking a buyer who shares our values and passion so that under their guidance we can give a bright future to the platform.

We can’t commit to financing the website for much longer so if we don’t manage to initiate any meaningful conversations in the next few weeks, the website will be frozen on 1st April 2018. If and when we find a suitable partner we will revive it and take it to the next stage.

If you are interested to discuss the above, please contact [email protected]

Alternatively, if you are willing to help, you can donate so that in the meantime, we can continue to publish more interesting content.
