Today, I'm at the Charlotte Street Hotel in London to meet Marco Bicego and find out how his brand makes jewels that are so different, yet so very wearable.

Marco your company has such a rich history but can you tell me what is so different about your jewellery?

"Modern, definitely and versatile, beautiful, comfortable, handmade in Veneto, Italy, and personal for sure."

"Jewellery is definitely about emotion, but also how you touch and you feel."

These are all things that sounds like clothes.

"Yes, this is why I think it's important, you know, you have to definitely wear the nice piece of jewellery, but it also has to be comfortable."

And feel good, (Marco: "Yes"), I forgot I'm wearing this. (Laughter)

"Yes, this is why I think, you can enjoy and wear it as an everyday piece of jewellery."

"When I have time and I want to relax  I go downstairs, I have all the stuff on my on my desk, and start playing, it's great, because I am going to make something special."

"One side of my heart wants to sell, the other side wantsto keep it, I love it and I'd alwats like to keep my jewelry, like my kids, you know."

And as promised here is a question from one of our readers. And she's Rosemary in Nigeria and she wants to ask Marco: How do you stay true to your design vision?

"For me jewellery is about timeless. It is for the first collection I made to the last, that is all these collections. I never followed the trends, because jewellery for me is something different and you have to be able to wear it for long term."

And Makita, from the Philippines asks: which is his favourite jewellery?

"It's funny but I really like Indian jewellery."

"Ok, my favourite city is Venice where I come from."

“My favourite hotel is The Mark in New York City."

“Favourite restaurant is Osteria La Cera, it's also in Venice."

The Jewellery Editor is for sale

Help us make the future bright

Since founding The Jewellery Editor in 2010, we have grown our digital magazine to be the number one global source of information and inspiration for fine jewellery and luxury watches.

3,500 articles, 150 videos with over 5 million views and a reach of over 2 million per month on social media later, we have offered unparalleled and highly respected coverage of our sector. However, despite our editorial success, we are financially struggling as an independent publisher.

Entirely funded, owned and run by Christine and Maria in London, we are now looking to sell The Jewellery Editor so that it can continue to grow. As e-commerce becomes a priority in our industry, we believe there is huge potential for engaging editorial content and are seeking a buyer who shares our values and passion so that under their guidance we can give a bright future to the platform and help us grow our business to the next stage.
