Fitted with cutting-edge silicon-derived components - the result of two years' research at the Patek Philippe workshops in Geneva - the new Gondolo REf 5200 8 Days, Day & Date Indication is a sophisticated watch with echoes of the Art Deco era. The Gondolo collection was first launched in 1993, but its exotic name and vintage styling hark back to earlier in the esteemed watchmaker's history, when it first began designing wristwatches in the new Deco style. The new Ref.5200 is fitted with a new in-house rectangular calibre, which is manually wound and bursting with Patek Philippe-designed technology, including a Spiromax® balance spring and a Pulsomax® escapement built from silicon-based Silinvar® material, making it the manufacture's first 4Hz high frequency movement. The highly polished case is crafted from solid white gold bars, within which sits the blue sunburst dial with white gold hour markers. Ergonomically designed for comfort, the crystal covering the dial is convex and the crystal protecting the caseback is curved to fit the wrist.
