The yellow gold winged earrings from Lalique recreate the brightly coloured feathers of the parrot in bejewelled form. Coloured gemstones, including blue and orange sapphires, emeralds, and Paraiba tourmalines, mimic the exotic bird’s highly pigmented coat, while the ends are tipped with black lacquer. The Perroquet collection is inspired by French actress Sarah Bernhardt, who is often referred to as “the most famous actress the world has ever known”. Over her lifetime, the eccentric Bernhard accrued a menagerie that comprised her pet parrot Bizibouzou, as well as three dogs, a monkey, a cheetah, a wolfhound and seven chameleons.
