The ancient Japanese art of mokume-gane dates back to the late 1600s, when it was used to decorate Samurai soldiers' swords. The technique involves layering then fusing together different types of metal to produce a uniquely patterned material that resembles wood grain. An extremely difficult technique to master, it has seen a resurgence in popularity among today’s jewellers, including Australian jeweller Nadia Neuman, owner of Mondial Pink Diamond Atelier based in Sydney, Australia, who creates stunning one-of-a-kind mokume-gane rings, including this Apollo wedding ring in rose gold, dark palladium and sterling silver.
