Founded in 1880, Bentley & Skinner is renowned for its antique and period jewellery and holds a Royal Appointment to both the Queen and the Prince of Wales.
Highlights from the pieces now available to collectors around the world include an Art Nouveau dragonfly pendant by Rene Lalique, an elegant Georgian diamond floral tiara worn by Downton Abbey's Lady Mary on her wedding day and an Egyptian Revival Pharoah portrait brooch by Carlo Guiliano.
Speaking about the decision to launch on 1stdibs, Bentley & Skinner's managing director, Mark Evans, says: "We were looking for an innovative online platform that reflected the quality of the pieces we sell. 1stdibs matches our standards, not only because of the customers it attracts, but also the quality of dealers on the site."
Now in its 13th year, 1stdibs has established itself as the go-to source for collectors who share a passion for the most beautiful things on earth. Each week sees more than 4,000 new listings from some of the most prominent dealers in antiques, 20th century design, fine jewellery, watches, fashion and fine art.
The site's jewellery offering alone is worth over US$500 million and includes a large selection of vintage jewels from brands such as Bulgari, Cartier, Harry Winston, Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany and Verdura.
Set up in 2001 by luxury real estate dealer Michael Bruno, 1stdibs strengthened its European presence two years ago when it opened an office in the UK with a dedicated sales and dealer support team. Dealers can only join the site by invitation, and each is fully vetted to ensure they meet the high standards set by 1stdibs.
