Four times a winner this year, Cate Blanchett rounded off an impressive collection of awards for her role in 'Blue Jasmine' when last night in Los Angeles she collected her second Academy Award. With the world looking at her every move, her choice of jewels did not let her down. And it was not an easy choice against her elaborately beaded Giorgio Armani gown.
For her big moment, Cate wisely chose a pair of drop earrings with 62 white opals and diamond pavé from Chopard's 2014 Red Carpet Collection. With it she wore a bracelet with 49 carats of brown diamonds, all set in white gold with a 'toi et moi' style pear-shape 4 carat diamond ring. The milky white of the opal earrings and the softer sparkle of brown diamonds were the perfect accompaniment to her attention-grabbing dress.
It seems that Chopard has been a lucky choice for Cate this awards season. To collect her BAFTA she chose a large Chopard necklace featuring three diamond birds, while at the Screen Actors Guild awards, where she also walked away with a trophy for Best Actress, she wore a Chopard ruby cuff and brown diamond briolette drop earrings. And again it was Chopard that she turned to for the Golden Globes. Here she made an eco statement by wearing the latest pieces from Chopard's Green Carpet collection, created using Fairmined gold and ethically sourced diamonds, a project the Genevan jeweller has undertaken with the help of Livia Firth's Eco-Age initiative.
