Bold and summery prints were all over the S/S 14 catwalks, and jewellers have not been slow to whip up a tropical storm by incorporating the theme into their collections.

Bursting with juicy colour and exotic motifs, these baubles are not only bang on trend but guaranteed to lift your spirits on days when the sun refuses to shine.

Robinson Pelham and Jewellery Theatre have both used gemstones in vibrant shades to whip up some warm-weather jewels in succulent shades of orange, purple and green.

The Ajourée Nuri watch from Boucheron features a parrot perched on its branch nibbling on colourful fruits. A subtle mix of diamonds, orange-pink sapphires and mother of pearl infuse the watch with a lush tropical feel.

The impressive turquoise stones on Corrado Giuspino's ring and earrings evoke the azure tones of the sea. The lush colour is further intensified by the tsavorites surrounding the central stone on the jewels, which were created especially for summer 2014.

If it's a cocktail ring you're after, Jacob & Co.'s colourful design will brighten up any garden party. The dazzling 48.27-carat natural Paraiba tourmaline is flanked by two butterflies crafted from white and pink diamonds, which lend the ring a delicate appearance.

This year's Blue Book from Tiffany & Co. took the colourful trend to a whole new level, and this bracelet was one of many standout pieces. With a design that originates from an archival sketch, it positively glows thanks to a sunny combination of yellow diamonds, fire opals, tourmalines and a cushion-cut central garnet.

Meanwhile, the subtle asymmetry of the Moi-Toi pearl earrings by Bogh-Art provides a refined option for those who want to steer clear of the full-on tropical colour palette. One melo and one clam pearl are paired with diamonds in contrasting colours for a purposely mismatched look that is straight from the sea.
