Finding a piece of Chanel jewellery from the new Comete collection in our stocking come 25 December would be a case of all our Christmas wishes coming true. The maison's latest high jewellery collection really is as mesmerising and beautiful as a constellation of stars - the perfect Christmas gifts for women who love Chanel and love diamonds.

The enduring brilliance of the star and the comet was a constant source of inspiration for Gabrielle Chanel, who saw it as representative of the eternal beauty of women. In fact, so taken was she with these cosmic motifs that they featured in her very first fine jewellery collection, Bijoux de Diamants, launched in Paris in 1932. At the time, Mademoiselle proclaimed: "I wanted to cover women in constellations of stars. Stars of all sizes."

Reminiscent of the twinkling Parisian night sky, stars of white gold, diamonds and pearls light up a collection divided into three distinct themes: Etoile Filante, Voie Lactee and Nuit de Diamants. One of the highlights is the Nuits de Diamants necklace in white gold with black spinals and 97 brilliant-cut diamonds. On the Voie Lactee ring, a constellation of stars in the shape of brilliant-cut diamonds and Japanese cultured pearls dance across the finger.

Arriving in store now, amongst the new Comete jewels is a very special Christmas gift for men also: Etoile Filante cufflinks in white gold, set with 116 brilliant-cut diamonds.
