Golden Renaissance: Pomellato and Venetian Heritage

Pomellato and Venetian Heritage illuminate the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca’ d'Oro museum in Venice.

CA' D'ORO FACADE, Venice with Pomellato

Pomellato played a vital role in supporting the Light and Reflections project, a cutting-edge illumination system for the exterior of Ca’ d’Oro in Venice. Sitting gracefully along the Grand Canal, the Golden House, Ca’ d'Oro in Italian, is the home of the state museum Galleria Giorgio Franchetti. The building is famous for its intricate marble façade, once partially adorned with gilding, which inspired its affectionate nickname.

The installation of an environmentally-friendly, night-time lighting system for the polychrome marble of the Gothic façade of the palazzo, was led by the Italian Ministry of Culture and Venetian Heritage. Pomellato is deeply committed to preserving Italy’s rich artisanal and artistic heritage, making it the perfect sponsor for the Ca’ d’Oro project.

Sabina Belli, CEO of Pomellato Group, says: 'The Ca’ d’Oro is an outstanding example of the wealth of skills that Italy has brought to the world. We are proud to contribute to enhancing its marvelous façade that reflects Venice’s rich and varied visual culture.'

Toto Bergamo Rossi, Director of Venetian Heritage, states: «This is our third collaboration with Pomellato, each focused on enhancing a masterpiece of Venice’s cultural heritage. We are grateful to be able to count on the unwavering support of the Maison, with which we share a passion for preserving the arts. The lighting project for the façade of the Ca’ d’Oro, is the result of a unique historical-architectural lighting study that takes into account the perforations, volumes, and colors of the façade, making it the first of its kind for a palazzo overlooking the Grand Canal. The façade lighting is part of a larger project for the total renovation of the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti at Ca’ d’Oro supported by Venetian Heritage in collaboration with the Giulio e Giovanna Sacchetti Foundation.»

This project strengthens the profound ties between Pomellato's Milanese roots and its connection to Venice, both cities sharing a rich architectural heritage that serves as a wellspring of inspiration for the brand.

Venetian Dream necklace by Pomellato

In honour of the project, at an exclusive gala dinner on 6th September 2023 in Venice,  Pomellato revealed the Venetian Dream necklace alongside the newly illuminated Cà d’Oro façade. The one-of-a-kind necklace is inspired by the iconic Gothic palazzo and is set with more than 4,000 diamonds. Diane von Fürstenberg, Designer and International Ambassador of Venetian Heritage and Caterina Murino, the Italian actress and Venice Film Festival Godmother were some friends of Pomellato who attended the event.

Vincenzo Castaldo, Creative Director of Pomellato, comments: «The Venetian Dream necklace is a composition of mirrored elements. The jewel captures the magical play of light and reflections on the lagoon. The airiness of the design and the unusual setting of the pendant’s diamonds capture Venice’s surreal lighting atmosphere and its almost impossible combination of magnificent architecture floating on water.»

Ca’ d’Oro stands as a remarkable testament to Italy's wealth of artistic prowess that has greatly influenced the world, and now, the name of Pomellato will be forever linked to the ‘golden house’.
