Cannes Film Festival 2014: an ice queen and a stylish Cannes favourite battle it out for the best red carpet jewels

The stars aren't letting the weather rain on their parade - the red carpet jewels continue to dazzle on day eight at the Cannes Film Festival.

Aishwarya Rai walked the Cannes Film Festival red carpet in a classic Chopard diamond necklace and drop earrings

With reports of sleet and even snow today, keeping the stars and their couture frocks dry before they make their red carpet entrance has been top of the agenda at this year's Cannes Film Festival. Not that you would know it to look at Aishwarya Rai, one of Bollywood's best-known actresses. With not a hair out of place, she posed for the paparazzi looking every inch the ice queen in a shimmering Roberto Cavalli gown and classic diamond jewels by Chopard.

A regular on the Cannes red carpet, on day eight of the festival Marion Cotillard whipped out another to-die-for Dior dress in palest grey, accessorised with Chopard jewels, including an unusual jadeite bracelet set with sapphires and diamonds.

But top marks must go to Kelly Preston, wife of John Travolta, for bringing a little sunshine to the party in colourful Avakian jewels set with hot-pink sapphires, interspersed with pretty diamond-set flowers.

Help us make the future bright

Since founding The Jewellery Editor in 2010, we have grown our digital magazine to be the number one global source of information and inspiration for fine jewellery and luxury watches.

3,500 articles, 150 videos with over 5 million views and a reach of over 2 million per month on social media later, we have offered unparalleled and highly respected coverage of our sector. However, despite our editorial success, we are financially struggling as an independent publisher.

Entirely funded, owned and run by Christine and Maria in London, we are now looking to sell The Jewellery Editor so that it can continue to grow. As e-commerce becomes a priority in our industry, we believe there is huge potential for engaging editorial content and are seeking a buyer who shares our values and passion so that under their guidance we can give a bright future to the platform and help us grow our business to the next stage.
