Black and white: the monochromatic new Icone collection of Lalique jewellery

Lalique takes a bold step with a contemporary - and affordable - new line of Art Deco inspired jewellery featuring sculpted black and clear enamelled crystal.

Lalique Icone collection silver earrings featuring black Lalique crystal enamelled in white

Known for its fine homewares and jewellery, Lalique's reputation as a purveyor of luxury goods and knack for all things Art Nouveau has successfully propelled it from the late 1880s to the present day.

Founded by the jeweller and artist René Lalique, the French brand best known for its glassworks is set to launch the Icone de Lalique collection later this month - an extension of its existing range of jewellery. Unlike anything Lalique has previously created, it's a resolutely contemporary collection, infused with an Art Deco edge. More affordable than previous collections, it's a bold step for Lalique, without compromising on quality or craftsmanship.

Icone de Lalique offers five pieces in either black or clear sculpted enamelled crystal. Viewing the pieces is one thing, but trying them on gives a richer perspective of these playful jewels. The boldest piece is the Icone Bague ring, which celebrates shapes with its rigid circles and lines. I would happily wear it alone or perhaps add the Icone de Lalique earrings and bracelets.

Keeping it simple with a monochromatic colour palette, Lalique has created a collection that can be mixed and matched on a whim, pairing black earrings with a white pendant necklace or opting for a more dramatic all-black look. The choice is yours.
