A final flourish of red carpet jewels from the last weekend in Cannes

It was a rousing final weekend in Cannes as the Palme d'Or was awarded and the stars took the red carpet for the last time to show off their high jewellery.

Nicole Kidman wore Belle earrings and two ruby and diamond bracelets by Harry Winston at the closing ceremony for the 66th Cannes Film Festival in 2013

With the prestigious Palme d'Or awarded to the controversial film 'Blue is the Warmest Colour' and the Coen Brothers scooping second place with 'Inside Llewyn Davis', the 66th Cannes Film Festival drew to a close yesterday with a final flourish of high fashion and high jewels on the red carpet.

Olivia Palermo, famous for her street-smart NYC style, proved that her alternative take on fashion translates perfectly to the red carpet in a wonderful gold sequin gown by Roberto Cavalli, accessorised with a beaded jacket, frothy feather clutch, impressive Avakian yellow diamond jewels and the dashing Johannes Huebl on her arm.

Star of 'Blue is the Warmest Colour' Lea Seydoux went for a neat chic look for the Cannes closing ceremony in a monochrome two-piece and pretty diamond teardrop Chopard earrings, while Uma Thurman piled on the Chopard jewels - diamond chandelier earrings and wrists full of sparkling bracelets - before stepping out in a shimmering Atelier Versace gown with a flowing train, causing paparazzi meltdown.

It was Nicole Kidman - one of the jury at this year's festival - who emerged as queen of the red carpet on the final day though. Dressed in plunging, figure-skimming Giorgio Armani, decorated with sparkling Swarovski crystals, she looked every inch Cannes royalty with her hair swept back to reveal delicate diamond Belle earrings by Harry Winston.
