Plique-à-jour enamel

A technically challenging porcelain enamel technique, plique-à-jour is similar to cloisonné enamel, but it has no backing in the final product. This creates a transparent effect when the light shines through it, which is similar to stained glass. This time-consuming technique can take up to four months to create a single item.
