Like the fortified wine from which it takes its name, Marsala, the Pantone colour of the year for 2015, is rich, earthy and sophisticated.
And, as many designers have already discovered, the plush, wine-red colour lends itself extremely well to jewellery. From rubies and garnets to rhodonite and tourmalines, there is no shortage of gemstones that capture the Pantone colour of the year 2015.
The warmth of Marsala is really brought out when it is paired with yellow gold, as demonstrated by these impressive Anahita earrings. Featuring 62.10ct of rubies, as well as diamonds and silver moonstones, the size of the stones alone is enough to take the earrings into statement jewel territory.
Created by Mira Gulati to meet the growing demand in India for luxury jewellery with a contemporary edge, Mirari is known for its vibrantly coloured pieces. One of my favourite Marsala-coloured pieces is this deceptively simple yet stunning Octium ring featuring a large pear-cut garnet on a yellow gold band. But these are just a handful of the Marsala-coloured jewels that have caught our eye: expect to see many more throughout 2015.
