Eight charms by leading British jewellers united on one bracelet in aid of Breast Cancer Care

Breast cancer research is a cause close to many of our hearts and UK’s leading jewellery designers have contributed their talent to raise money for research.

The sterling silver bracelet is the work of designer Sarah Jordan, in collaboration with Birmingham-based manufacturer Hockley Mint while each of the 8 charms was created by a different UK jewellery designer, each of whom gave their time and materials for

In an initiative spearheaded by the British Jewellers' Association (BJA), Shaun Leane, Alexander Davis, Sarah Jordan, Tomasz Donocik, Andrew Geoghegan and Linda Macdonald have each designed a unique charm for a bracelet that will be auctioned at International Jewellery London (IJL) in aid of Breast Cancer Care UK.

The sterling silver bracelet is the work of designer Sarah Jordan, in collaboration with Birmingham-based manufacturer Hockley Mint. Samantha Rose of September Rose and Natalie Towell of Navette Jewellery - who both won a design competition organised by the British Jewellery Association - will also contribute charms, bringing the total number to eight.

It is testament to the designers' dedication to this worthy cause that they all gave their time and materials for free. Each charm reflects the jeweller's unique aesthetic, from Andrew Geoghegan's chic, fluted charm, set with green tourmalines and inspired by his Cannelé collection, to Linda McDonald's butterfly motif, which represents transformation and hope for a new life. Samantha Rose, of September Rose, also chose to depict a butterfly to symbolise renewal in her Art Nouveau-inspired piece.

Sarah Jordan's design pays homage to the iconic pink ribbon symbol associated with Breast Cancer charities, with her rose gold charm featuring a pink pearl. Shaun Leane's Cherry Blossom and Navette Towell's Spirit Within charms also incorporate a pink colour palette.

Amethyst, renowned for its healing properties, is featured in Alexander Davis' architectural piece and Tomasz Donocik's charm, which is reminiscent of the designer's Rising Star collection.

The charity auction will take place at IJL on 31 August 2014, which also marks the trade show's move to a new venue, Olympia in London. A further 11 pieces, all designed and donated by IJL designers and suppliers, will also be up for auction during the evening.
