Michael Wilkinson, costume designer on 'American
Hustle', says that Gucci was the natural choice to capture the
sophistication and glamour of New York in the late 1970s. "Her
horsebit jewellery immediately shows the audience that Amy's
character is both elegant and sexy," he adds.
The horsebit was first introduced as a decorative
element on handbags in the 1950s and has become emblematic of the

Gucci's creative director, Frida Giannini, says the
four-time Oscar-nominated actress is "a real Gucci woman - sensual,
elegant, intelligent and full of life - and this comes across on
screen in 'American Hustle'. It's great to see Gucci worn with this
attitude, as it really epitomises the essence of the label."
Directed by award-winning filmmaker David O. Russell,
'American Hustle' tells the story of 1970s conman Irving Rosenfeld
(played by Christian Bale), who, along with his partner-in-crime
Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams), is forced to work for wild FBI agent
Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper).
With an all-star cast that also includes Jeremy
Renner and Jennifer Lawrence, the film is a hot contender for an
Oscar and has already picked up Best Screenplay and Best Picture at
the New York Film Critics Circle film awards.
