The 2013 Golden Globe Awards: who dazzled on the red carpet in LA?

A serpent, a US$5.8 million necklace and 1,100 orange sapphires: just some of the red-carpet jewels at the 70th Golden Globe Awards.

It was an evening of impassioned speeches (bravo, Jodie Foster) and exquisite gowns (bullseye, Rachel Weisz) as LA played host to the 2013 Golden Globe Awards last night. 'Homeland', 'Game Change' and 'Les Miserables' all scored a hat trick and so did their leading ladies, with Claire Danes and Julianne Moore scooping best actress awards, and Anne Hathaway best supporting actress. Looking the antithesis of Fantine in 'Les Mis', a role for which she hacked off her own hair on camera, Hathaway looked graceful as a swan in her Chanel Couture dress and jewels, while red carpet favourite Julianne Moore didn't disappoint in her floor-length Tom Ford frock, accessorised with some impressive Bulgari bling.
Winner of a Golden Globe for the James Bond song 'Skyfall', which she dedicated to her boyfriend and new baby boy, Adele rocked a vintage chic look in a custom-made Burberry gown and Van Cleef & Arpels 1971 'Estate' earrings, from the Heritage Collection. Meanwhile, fellow new mum Sienna Miller looked fresh-faced in Erdem - a dress that divided the critics - and Van Cleef & Arpels 'Fleurette' ear studs.
Jessica Alba poured her enviable curves into an orange Oscar de la Renta dress. Around her neck she wore one of the most impressive jewels of the night: a Mrs Winston by Harry Winston diamond cascading drop necklace worth a cool US$5.8 million. Also opting for a fishtail-style frock was Amy Adams, who wore elegant Tiffany Lucida® diamond earrings, Victoria diamond bracelets and a round, pear-shape and marquise diamond cluster bracelet with her dreamy Marchesa gown.
Ladies in red Marion Cotillard and Jennifer Lawrence - who won an award for her role in 'Silver Linings Playbook' - looked every inch the movie stars. Lawrence accentuated her tiny waist with a silver belt and opted for glamorous diamond drop earrings, a pink diamond ring and a huge cocktail ring, all by Harry Winston, while Marion Cotillard paired her asymmetric Dior Haute Couture dress with a Chopard bracelet featuring over 1,100 orange sapphires.
Dressed in a cleavage-baring Calvin Klein gown, Jessica Chastain sizzled in US$3 millon of Harry Winston jewels, as did Michelle Dockery of 'Downton Abbey' fame in a sensational Alexandre Vauthier frock, paired with yellow gold earrings with emeralds and diamonds from Bulgari's High Jewellery Collection. And proving that it's not only about the ladies, Hugh Jackman cut a handsome figure in a Louis Vuitton suit and Harry Winston cufflinks.
The Golden Globe for the most stylish lady on the red carpet has to go to Rachel Weisz, though. In a sheer Louis Vuitton polka dot gown, immaculate Grace Kelly-style locks and a diamond-covered Bulgari Serpenti snaking up her wrist, we would have fallen in love even if she didn't have her very own James Bond on her arm.
