Chopard lights up the Oscars

Chopard jewels and watches were on the red carpet at the Oscars last night. The most prominent piece of Chopard was not a dazzling diamond necklace but the simple, slim, black dial white gold watch on 'Best Actor' winner Colin Firth's wrist. Other stellar Chopard moments were to be seen dangling from Jennifer Lawrence's and Penelope Cruz's pretty lobes.

PENELOPE CRUZ makes a comeback after having her baby and wears red and Chopard for the red carpet. Her earrings are Chopard’s chandelier-style with yellow diamonds in yellow gold worn with a 10 carat pink sapphire and diamond (2 carats) ring.

Low-key jewels seemed the name of the game at the 2011 Oscars and stars such as Jennifer Lawrence or Penelope Cruz chose to wear just a stunning pair of Chopard earrings (Jennifer's were yellow diamonds set in platinum and Penelope's were yellow diamonds set in yellow gold) rather than the full-on earrings, necklace and gob-stopper ring look. And I am sure these were all on offer as Chopard has a dazzling Aladdin's cave of jewels that could tempt one to excess. The more natural approach was in keeping with the toned down make up and hair-dos that were more summer-breezy than Elnett-set coiffs. The dresses too were more wearable than in past years and Mrs Firth (Livia Giuggioli) wore a dress that reflects her eco-minded approach to fashion as well as jewels.  Watches are making a presence as big dazzling jewels are put aside in favour of more realistic choices. Both Colin Firth and Javier Bardem chose styles to suit their look. Firth's was a simple three hand slim Chopard L.U.C. XPS with a slightly retro feel to it, while Bardem's was a Chopard L.U.C. Regulateur with a slightly more edgy look to it and enough on the dial to catch the eye.
